The novel was started in '98 after making friends w/several Marines while I was away at school & a deep respect for the lives that Marines lead, the relationships they try to maintain when their job is always "the first wife'. Inspiration from my ex-husband, who was a Marine Corps grunt, his accomplishments & struggles, & our own. It's dedicated to my friends from Chapman & to "Gunny Ted", who is never far from my immediate thoughts.
